Hello, looks like a cookie server of fairly recent make. What is the mark, a swan ? Best wishes, Bahner

It is definitiely not recent as most of the detail has been rubbed down and the pivot hinge is hand-crafted and very loose. I also pulled it out of a box that my great-grandmother packed in 1947 after her husband died.

I cannot identify the one important mark, however I don't think it is a swan.

Hi,
The mark looks like a variation of the dragonfly of Meyle & Meyer, however, I do not know if they produced non-jewelry goods.
As to the age, old is a subjective concept, the piece is certainly twentieth century and probably dates to after 1925. It is a cast piece and it is common for cast items of this sort to be heavily buffed, to the point of marked detail loss, while still at the factory.

Regards, Tom
