German cup - what year?

Post by Ubaranda »

Hi all!
I have nice German cup made by Koch & Bergfeld company. The cup has serial number 681. Does anyone know in what year this cup was made?
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Hello, Koch and Bergfeld production numbers allow the dating of the first production only. The low number might point at the 1870ies, but this was most likely made later. Strube was a famous jeweller from Leipzig, active there since 1819. So this does not help either. What about the Russian import remarkings ? Does that help to narrow it down (not my line) ?! Just a gut feeling: around 1900, give or take. Regards, Bahner

Hi Bahner!
Many thanks for your answer!
Such Russian hallmarks for imported products have been used since the early 1950s. Unfortunately this does not help in determining the age of the cup. But I agree with you - most likely this is the beginning of the 20th century.
Regards.Alex.
