Scottish spoon

Post by JanGroen »

Good afternoon
Another boot sale find today. It reminded me of one of those mass produced plated spoons, but the hallmarks and weight in hand just did not fit. It is about 13cm long with 5 marks.
First mark is long gone , second looks like a dragon or Phoenix facing to the left, third reminds me of a mythical squid mark I saw somewhere. The 4th mark is a S on its side and last a small W.

Any help will be welcome.

Did some research. The second mark could be a Scottish thistle mark. But not sure why the lines are going through it. The S could be a date mark.

I may be alone in this, but it doesn’t look Scottish to me.
