New But Old Wedding Ring "Help"

Hi Folks,
I'm after some research help on my mothers wedding ring, my father purchased the ring in 1935.
A few weeks ago my mother asked me to get it cleaned for her, so before I sent it off using my local jewellers I checked out the hallmarks on the ring, my mother was under the understanding that when my father purchased the ring, it was NEW but looking at the hallmarks it looks to me to have been hallmarked in 1897-98. Unfortunately my father passed away in 2002 so I can't ask him.
If I'm correct in my understanding the only problem I have is the "Makers Mark" it looks like "W.M" But I can't find a maker with that mark in Birmingham for that date.
Could some kind soul tell me if I'm correct or not and if possible tell me who the maker is and where they were from.
Thanks and kind regards.
Kev.

No appraisals here but I suppose this is about 10 quid value now compared with 1935.
If you want to compare the value of a £10 0s 0d Commodity in 1935, in 2019 the relative real price of commodity is £681.90

Six grams of pure gold is about £ 240, i.e. calculated to 22K or 91.67 percent pure gold is £ 221.
Wedding rings are often sold as scrap metal, but there is sentimental value in them that cannot be calculated.
Have a nice Sunday evening.

Highly unlikely to be William Maguires as he registered as a "pencil case manufacturer" and made things like cigar and cigarette cases. I can't tie the maker down absolutely but would suggest that it is very probably William Manton, a prolific manufacturing jeweller.
