Help identify?

Not sure how to do this, I'm kind of new to "highend" jewelry. But a bit of background, I have an opal ring that I assume is in a 10k white gold setting with what looks like pale amethysts and tiny crystals (doubt they're diamon chips). My husband's adoptive mother gave it to him, claiming it belonged to his biological mom... which would mean it came from Romania. We don't know if this is true (she's a bit crazy and I bet she made the story up to just make him feel better; he was orphaned by war...). Anyway he gave it to me to wear while pregnant because it's slightly larger than my wedding band and engagement ring. And it's gorgeous either way. It would be nice to find the truth behind this ring.

I can read the stamp that says 10k, then it looks like it says "©E" and some smudged letter/number.. I have pics taken with my phone.

Yeah I figured its probably something his adoptive mother bought and told him was from his bio mom.... even he thinks so, just likes to entertain the idea.
