Is this jewelry anything special?

Postby JesseLeigh9 » Thu Mar 17, 2016 12:30 am

I've just come across a box that contains a ring and a bracelet. I believe it was from my great grandmother. On the inside of the box it says;
Cecilie Hansen
Juveler & Guldsmed
Randers
On the inside of the ring I can make out 585 and something that looks like either HGr or HGH.
There is no markings on the bracelet at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated:)

Hi,

Your photo was too large to post. If you had used the Preview function, before hitting Submit a red error message would have advised that it was too large to be posted. I have copied your photo and when uploaded to Tinypics I resized it to message board/forum size...easy to do.

Unfortunately the photo doesn't show much detail but 585 usually stands for 14 carat gold. Some close ups of the ring and marks, using the macro function (the flower emblem) on the camera, in good lighting without a flash, would help. If the marks are tiny, hold a magnifying glass infront of the camera.
If the mark is H.Gr then it may the mark for Hugo Grun of Copenhagen. I would suggest it may be his earlier mark of 1918 -1937. You can find examples of his marks here:

One of the forum rules is one object per post, so I suggest you take some close ups of the bracelet and create a new post for it.

In the meantime...the box is also Danish and the jeweller Cecilie Elisabeth Hansen was in business in Randers during the period 1916 - 1937. If the bracelet belongs to the box, then I would suggest rechecking the bracelet for her C.El.H. makers mark.
