18 karat Gold Ring with hallmarks (Irish?) ID please

A detectorfind: nice gold ring with hallmarks:

1: L.B :maker's mark ?
2: 18 : 18 karat
3: (Hibernia?) (mark for Ireland/ Dublin?)
4: unicorn?
5: C: yearletter ?

Unfortunately i do not posses any literature concerning gold Hallmarks, could anyone identify these hallmarks?

Why are there 2 marks for 18K ?

Sorry, I don't have the answer to either question, but perhaps another will.

ps. My gut feeling is that the 18 is there for clarity and the unicorn for the sake of tradition.
