ID OF GOLD WALKING STICK HANDLE

I have attached pictures of a walking stick handle, that I would like to learn if it is gold or not. It is pale colored and hallmarked. The age of the walking stick is circa 1907.

My first instinct was to attribute to France because of the style of it but the mark threw me. Many handles of this style were made in France in the late 18th early 19th centuries. But quite a few were also reproduced at the end of the 19th early 20th c's. I would suggest you get it acid tested at a jewellers as the 18...which I assume is supposed to represent 18 carat gold looks to have been added later. It may be 18 carat gold or even gold plate so the test would be necessary to establish which.

As well as a full line of sterling goods, they made gold thimbles with the same 18 stamp. This is the first gold item I've seen by them that is not a thimble.
