I purchased a pair of earrings in Florence , that are old, but I'm not sure how old, and would like to id them. I'd like to know how old the might be and any other information about the style etc.
I believe from looking at them, that the ear wires were added or fixed much later than the hanging part were made, as was the gold on the back side. on the ear wire I found the markings (star) 551 FI, and 750. I see that FI stands for the district of Firenze or Florence, and 750 is 18Karat or greater gold content. I assume that this is only for the ear wire repair, and not the entire earring. There are no other marks on the earrings. I would like to know the 551, which I assume is the jeweler maker number
the earrings are a combination of what looks like white and yellow gold, a single ruby and multiple small diamonds chips, which look hand cut as they are not all identical .
I haven't figured out how to upload a photo of them here. but I have an image url here.
