Hello everyone,

I will be very grateful for any help dating this diamond ring I have? (see attached pictures below).
I managed to identify the Edinburgh hallmark, but not the date.

Many thanks in advance!

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Welcome to the Forum.

Not Edinburgh, but Chester.

The maker was James Harrison of 16, Tenby Street, Birmingham. It was assayed in 1905.

Thank you ssoooo much Trev!! I really appreciate your very fast and extremely helpful answer.
I was really searching in the totally wrong place, as I didn't know about the Chester Assay, I just read now somewhere that they closed down in 1962. The Edinburgh assay symbol just looked the most similar I could find :-)

I will definitely visit this very interesting and unique forum frequently.

Again many thanks!

Daniel

By the way just another thing about this ring.

As shown in the last picture I posted above, it looks like the ring has small accent orange stones all around the center diamond.
Amazingly it does not have there any stones whatsoever accept the diamond! Around the diamond are just small oval shaped hollow spaces.
The orange seen there is just a very clever light visual affect that happens in this ring.
In reality it really looks amazing, I have never seen such a visual affect in any jewelry before.

Have you or/and anyone else here ever seen this kind of light visual affect before in a ring?

(admin edit - see Posting Requirements )

The total weight of this 18 Karats ring is 3.70 grams, and the diamond is approx 0.15 millimeters in diameter.

Thanks again for any thoughts and help on the matter!

Daniel
