Help ID marks on gold bracelet

Postby mj71 » Sun Feb 20, 2011 1:21 pm

Through my research, I believe this is from Chester, England, 1904, 9 karat. I'd like confirmation of that if I'm right, corrections if I'm wrong. I'm a bit puzzled by the T&S as They look similar to E.J. Trevitt & Sons but the E. J. initials seem to be surrounded by circles. I'm also not 100% that the first initial is a T. TIA!

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

It is E J Trevitt & Sons. Your mark is an earlier one than you found, it was registered on the 13th October 1898 by Enoch James Trevitt and Charles James Trevitt trading as E J Trevitt & Sons of 29, Augusta Street, Birmingham.

It was not uncommon for Birmingham manufacturers to enter marks at the Chester Assay Office, as some Birmingham made wares did not have a good reputation.

The rest of your conclusions are correct, 1904, 9ct.

Trev.
