Hi,
Russia domestic gold and platinum hallmarks 1958-1994.
The main hallmark with the core image of the Soviet star with the hammer and sickle, and the numerical gold fineness as 583. The assay office mark in the form of a Cyrillic letter added to the lower left of the star. Probably not as you say a ‘delta’ but the Cyrillic letter Dey, for Lvov, Ukraine or the Cyrillic letter El for St. Petersburg. If it is .7 followed by the Cyrillic letter Dey or El. It is the date mark for 1987 and Z5 would be a maker’s identification mark.
I.e MM(M) 3 or maker’s mark, followed by the figure 3, is for the year 1953 or 1963
MM(M) 8 or maker’s mark, followed by the figure 8 ,is for the year 1958 or 1968
7 MM(M) or figure 7, followed by the maker’s mark, is for the year 1977
.9 MM(M) or dot figure 9, followed by the maker’s mark, for the year 1979
.9 ? MM(M) or dot figure 9, ? = regional assay office symbol, maker’s mark, the year 1989
: 9? MM(M) or double dot 9,? = regional assay office symbol, maker’s mark, the year 1999
After 2000, only two letters for the maker’s mark
? 0 MM or? = regional assay office symbol, 0 for the year 2000, followed by maker’s mark
3?MM or Cyrillic capital letter Zey for the year 2007, ?= regional assay office symbol,
Followed by the maker’s mark.
Bit complicated but I gave it a try so we both learn from it, and if I am wrong do not worry someone will correct the information, and we both learn even more.
Regards,
Oel
