Gold & Onyx 14K Man's Ring ..... Country? Maker? Meaning

Postby MomTut » Fri Sep 26, 2008 7:12 pm

Greetings. The only mark on this god and onyx man's ring is "14K" but I am posting in the hopes that someone might still be able to recognize the work and thus, the maker. Even the country of origin would be a big help.

I also wonder if anyone knows what the symbol represents? I have pictured it both ways as I am not sure which side is truly up.

Aww gee, I just realized that the mark is shown upside down. I apologize.

The mark is an American standard, its style was most popular during the late 1890-1920 period. Your ring appears to be from that period, most likely just prior to WWI (then that style of top engraving was most popular). The cypher appears to be A.W. or W.A. and would have been heavily engraved to match the stone's bezel.

I appreciate the information very much. It's a big help.

I sure didn't see any initials before but now that makes sense.

Thank you, JLDoggett!
