Is this Gold?

not sure whether this brooch is gold or not, i also would like some help in trying to figure out where it comes from!

It's hard to tell, but does it say 950? If so, it is possibly gold plate over silver (.950).

This is likely Mid-Eastern filigree with a gold wash or plating, which is termed vermeil. 950 is the silver content, out of 1000 parts, so better than sterling. Much of the Eastern filigree is gilded to give a more lavish appearance.
