just wondering if anyone know's if there mini paperweight jewelry range was done in 9,15 or 18ct gold, i've just got a pair , and i can't make the mark out, it's say's DIAL what does dial mean? with the gold stamp next to it...thanks

What is the "gold stamp", from what I can see, I think they are plated metal.

Yes, I can see that, but not clearly. Please describe what is in the rectangle.

Dial is most likely the manufacturer of the findings. If Dial is a French manufacturer, the absence of an eagle mark would indicate plated metal.

that's why i put it on here i thought someone might know about the mark in the rectangle cause i can't make it out, there is another mark as in the photo below C M with a rose in between, as you can guess i know nout about silver or gold i just collect paperweights

Hi Ray,
Thanks for the larger photo and the description, now we can get down to business.
It is the mark of Maison Murat S.A, the CM for Charles Murat, probably the founder. They are Parisian jewelers and have been around for a long time, found that they exhibited gold plated jewelry at the United States Centennial Exposition in 1876 and are still in business today. Believe they make both fine and costume jewelry, but the rectangular shape of your mark fits the French regulations for plated ware.

thanks Tom , the gold plate must thick as there are no wear marks or any green coming through, i think these would date from 1975-1980
