This is a mark on a powder compact. I have very little knowledge on sterling, so anything at all you can tell me is appreciated. What does 738 stand for? The W? Thank you

The 738 is a pattern number.

Thank you Tom. I looked there but wasn't sure. I thought maybe the part in front of the W was a circle (the rest worn off). But do you think it's possible its Watrous Mfg. Co?
