Need help identify this piece

Postby christine012674 » Fri Oct 05, 2007 10:59 am

I would like to know who the maker of this item is and when was this item made?? Also, can anyone tell me what this piece is and what was it used for?? I could not get a good picture of the pictorials on this item but I can tell you that is has a crown, the initials BB and a lion. It also says Sterling Silver B 424 and a little further away has the letter G (maybe) or the number 8 I cant really tell.

I suspect your 'BB' is actually a 'W' and that the maker is the Watson Company.

Sorry, your right, Its Watson. I just looked at Watsons Hallmark and it looks exactly like it. You've been a great help, thank you.

Hi, christine012674. Now before you tell me I am wrong, let me give u my guess. (smile) I own a bar and am a little familiar with some "utensils" used in our industry. This seems to me to be a strainer of some sort, not necessarily for liquor but definitely for beverages. I think that they used to be made of glass, but the glass would break too easily, so, stainless or silver, became the norm. In your pic there seems to be a lid or top that is missing. It has a built in strainer. The ones today are in several pieces. I hope this helps. ssbanglegyrl

Thank you for your help. I did finally realize that it was some kind of cocktail mixer/strainer. I was wondering if it should have had a lid that goes with it but I wasnt quite sure. Thanks for making me laugh, its always nice to know that others have a sense of humor.

Christine
