Hi ,
I am trying to date this piece but I am not sure that the markings match exactly anything that I have found.Could someone please help me.The s in the center is in a circle but the style S I cant seem to find in a circle and also the shield seems to differ from what I found. I looked under british since the first symbol is a lion.

I believe those are sterling marks used by Bailey & Company, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1848-1878).

Yes the piece is marked Bailey & co. This is my first time at trying to match symbols and since it had the british sterling mark, I figured in order to date it that I needed to use the british pages which is why I couldnt find an exact match for the "s" and the shield that are on the piece. I assume that I dont need to match those in order to date the piece ?Thanks so much for your help. It is great to know that there are people out there willing to help others without a fee involved. This is truly a very informative site and I am glad that I found it.
