Curious serving utensil, can anyone id?

Post by HoratioCapistrano »

What would this type of utensil be used for?
The mark seems to be up in the crook where the handle meets the bowl of the utensil. Can anyone id this?

Hi,
Search for Silver Pierced Olive Spoon to find many similar examples.
The maker looks like owl mark with letter W of Weidlich.
See here:

If the bowl is wide and flat and pierced, it is possible this could be a tomato server as well. ::::
