Lion passant date mark and star - ID HELP!

Post by maxbernat »

Good morning, having a hard time figuring out these marks. This is an eight inch fork marked
STERLING, with a lion passant, a D date mark in a sideways shield cartouche and a five pointed star (like Spanish sterling!). Also, the makers mark is partly worn away and I can't make it out. Looks like THOM. W BURDY. Thanks for looking.

Thanks, all. So, pseudo British marks used by Westervelt. I'm not crazy then...
