C Wilcox Hallmark - dating a spoon

Hello All, This is my first post here, so I hope I am posting correctly. I have a spoon that I believe is from my 3rd great grandfather who lived from 1801 to 1853 in Cheshire, CT (which is right next to Meriden, CT). The spoon is engraved with his initials, but I don't see this particular hallmark for Wilcox out of Meriden - they all seem to be after the 1860's (which he wasn't living then). I guess I'm wondering if it's likely that this spoon is from Wilcox prior to 1853 or if that's not possible. Any info at all would be very much appreciated.

Thank you so much! That makes me feel better because the dates correspond with the years that my 3rd grandfather was alive.

Think nothing of it. Maybe a good point in time for display box with history enclosed so it never gets lost in time. So few of the monograms that surface can be linked to a known person.

The spoon will definitely be displayed and treasured - hopefully for many more generations!. I have a few smaller spoons that have his wife's (my 3rd great grandmother's) initials engraved on them. She also died around 1853 and her spoons have JL Smith as the maker. I will have to post pictures tomorrow in the coin silver section because I'd love to be able to know the maker of her spoons also.
