Birmingham Sterling Ink Stand-Help!

Postby seansaved » Sat Sep 02, 2006 2:20 pm

Hi,
I recently acquired this gorgeous pen/ink stand and I am having some difficulty with the marks. There is an anchor for Birmingham, a script capital "G" which I believe indicates 1830 manufacture, the word "STERLING," and the number 10. I am a little confused, because the very first mark appears to be a lion passant, but it is facing right instead of left. Any information would be most appreciated!

I believe that's the mark used by the Gorham Corporation, Providence, Rhode Island.
