Looks like a Shiebler hallmark ?

Postby mistyblue373 » Fri Aug 11, 2006 2:57 pm

Don't know if I'm doing the picture thing right. First time trying it.
This ladies sterling letter opener has what looks like G.W. Shiebler's hallmark but the S in the center of the wings is reversed. Can anyone tell me anything about this ? Thanks, Beth

The backward S shows up quite a bit on Shiebler pieces, most likely a die-maker's error.

Thanks Cheryl. I've tried to research the pattern and can't locate it. Does anyone know where I might find info on that? I've come accross lists of pattern names but , being new to this, I have no clue as to what they look like. Thanks, Beth
