I've looked for this mark but came up empty handed. Not in any of my books, ether. Could this be a hand made piece? Or something very old? Thanks for your help. I'm assuming it's American.

I wouldn't expect it to be handmade. It may have been part of a small gift set or given on its own. It is not uncommon for such gift items not to have full manufacturer's marks or be part of pattern. Good luck with any further research.

Usually spoons of this size are called "Iced Tea Spoons" and the baby spoons are usually very short and have larger bowls, which I assume helps guide the food into a sometimes uncooperative baby, and the short size gives maximum control over the spoon.

This is a nice spoon, and although you would expect a hallmark from a company on a spoon such as this, unfortunately it does not always happen. I don't know if the "FL" is a factory identification mark or the mark of an employee. It could have been part of a set, maybe a set made for several people to drink Iced Tea.

It's a baby/infant feeding spoon, as suggested - an iced tea spoon would be longer, 7"-8"...
