Please Help I.D. Maker and Pattern of Antique Sugar Tongs

Postby sdiceman » Sat May 16, 2015 2:37 pm

Hello all. I am stumped as to the maker of these lovely sugar tongs. I have included one photo of the tongs, and two of the maker's mark. The tongs are also stamped 'Sterling' and 'Patent'. Thank you in advance!

Your obscured mark belongs to Alvin, the design is a variant in their multi-motif pattern 'Majestic' (1901 patent #D34858).

See bottom mark: Alvin

Cheryl,

Wow! I am impressed. I pride myself on being pretty savvy on the Internet when it comes to research, but I can say with confidence that I never would have deciphered that mark as the mark for Alvin silver manufacturing. I am in awe of the skill of the contributors to this site, and I greatly appreciate it.
