Help with Currier & Roby

Postby modemgirlz » Thu Jun 22, 2006 10:17 pm

Could someone help me identify this pattern. Did Currier & Roby design this pattern? I do see this pattern on newer pieces, with another name with Currier & Roby. I do believe this piece is old. Thanks for your help

Hi,
The pattern is called "Onslow" and appears to have originated in mid-eighteenth century London. Many silver manufacturers have reproduced it since then. Maybe one of the English mavens will flesh out the pattern origins for us.

Currier & Roby was known for their high quality reproductions of antique American and British silver. Pretty piece, you don't mention size, is it a salt spoon?

Dragonflywink, Thanks for all the information. My spoon is a salt spoon. I do love the pattern on the bowl, nice how it's on the front and back. I would love to see other pieces by them. You are always so helpful! Thank you Kristina
