Elaborate Pattern/Gorham Sterling Tea Service

Postby asuekee » Tue Jun 20, 2006 12:22 pm

Hello!
Was wondering if anyone could help me identify this glorious pattern and possibly date manufactured for a Gorham Sterling Tea Set I have just acquired. I believe it is early 20th century. Here are some photos:

In 1898 Gorham added a letter prefix to the numbering system. The A was used on sterling holloware related to dining. They used the A prefix until about 1930. During this time period they also used date codes (a list is on this site). If you find the date code mark it will indicate the year your items were made.

Pat.
