Postby niceguy1 » Tue Jul 16, 2013 8:34 pm

HI ALL

I have this Tiffany silver piece & i need help with identification.

The hallmark reads Tiffany & co 6651 Makers 3849 Sterling 925-1000 M. If i understand the Tiffnay page this should date it to around 1881-1882 am i correct?

What was this used for? has a circular hole in the bottom & it measures 3 inches tall.

It's a holder for stick shaving soap, would have most likely been part of a men's toiletry set - it may have originally been designed in 1881, but the ''m' on your piece indicates production during the directorship of John C. Moore II, 1907-47.
