I recently acquired a three piece Tea Set signed M.M Frederick, Virg, Nev., and with the round, California Seal makers mark for Schulz & Fischer of San Francisco, California. The Tea or Coffee Pot is quite tall measuring just over 12" high to the top of the Angel finial. The creamer measures just over 7" and the sugar is quite large as well and is lidded with matching angel finial. All three pieces have very ornate engraving around the upper portion of the piece. The engraving is very well done with circular framed human figures and very ornate leaves and decoration joining it all together. The pot weights 41.2 ozt, the creamer 18.8 ozt and the sugar 28.6 ozt, for a total of 88.6 ozt.
I have been completely unable to find a similar example by Schulz & Fischer. I have been able to find the odd piece of flatware, cup or saucer, but nothing on this scale. Any information that you would be willing to share as to company history, references to other examples, approximate date of manufacture, or just general thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your consideration.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. Nice tea set, I'm envious. I was happy just to have a spoon marked by Fredrick. I can't answer your questions directly, but recommend obtaining the following text if you haven't already (appears that you may well have done so). "Silver in the Golden State" covers most of the early California silver makers, including Schultz & Fischer. There is also some good information contained in an on-line article by Argentum in San Francisco, link as follows:

As far as I know, these are about as much general information on early California silver and the Virginia City connection as is available. Good fortune in your search!

Just noticed this old forum thread recently revived that also addresses the subject:
