help identifying gorham piece and pattern

Postby beth » Wed Dec 28, 2005 1:55 pm

Does anyone know what this piece is used for and what the Gorham pattern name is? The hallmarks are from the late 1800's.

There should be 4 photos to view. If you can't see them let me know. I have never done this before.

For serving stilton cheese. The pattern is a mystery to me.

Thank you WEV. What exactly is Stilton cheese? Do you know if this is a rare piece?

Stilton is a smelly English cheese, akin to Bleu. It is difficult to make an ID with the photos available, my best guess is Marie Antoinette ca.1890. see our page on
Gorham Patterns
Genuine stilton scoops are not that common, however, these servers have been, and are currently being, remade from old tablespoons and these are becoming more and more common.

Is a Stilton Cheese scoop different than a regular cheese scoop?
