Gorham - confused about R & T letters - please enlighten

I have looked at the Gorham dating page, but this does NOT appear to be answered there. If I missed it, my apologies.

I have this fork with a T, and a spoon with an R. The mark appears to me to be the one associated until the 1890's; given the patent date, I have to assume that the date is 1895-1899.

However, I'm curious about the letters.

Does anyone know what they mean?

I can't help you with the "R", but may be able to provide information regarding the "T". Some Gorham vintage flatware is marked for weight. The "T" stands for "Trade" and means that the flatware weighs 9 troy ounces per 12 teaspoons. They also manufactured "Extra" (E), "Heavy" (H), and "Massive" (M).
