You guys are good. How bout this piece of flatware :)

I was told that this belonged to a gentleman from San Francisco in the mid 1800s. The mark is a double headed griffin, or lion with a W in a circle in front of it. On top of that it says sterling. I would also like to know what the hect the one with a roll in it is. Oh yeah, and the name of the pattern would also be much appreciated.

The mark appears to be the Whiting Manufacturing Company of New York, founded in 1866 and taken over by Gorham in the 1920s.

Your second piece looks like a cheese scoop.

I don't know the exact name of the pattern, but Whiting made several patterns called "Twist", including Ball Twist, Oval Twist and Square Twist. It is most like the Square Twist, except that those piece have the twist continue through the entire handle. The Oval Twist pattern dates from the 1880's and my guess is that your piece dates from a similar timeframe.
