I have a piece of flatware that I cannot identify

Hi guys, I have a little problem today. This spoon that I have shows a Birmingham sterling mark but the calligraphy G confuses me. And the worse part of this is that it is stamped "Copyrighted". I'm dead in the water on this one boys. Please tell me all you can about this piece. I don't even know the pattern. Thanks for all the help in advance.

The mark is for Gorham.

Appears to one of the many variations of Gorham's multi-motif Versailles pattern, introduced in 1888.

Thanks for a quick reply guys. I had no idea. I actually thought the G was a date letter but didn't think the piece was from the mid 1800s. Again thanks all and especially Cheryl for nailing it down. Happy hollidays.
