American silver tea caddy?

Postby gaskin » Tue Nov 15, 2005 11:03 am

Hello,

I wonder if you can help. I looking to ascertain whether this silver tea caddy is American or otherwise. Images below.

It is solid silver and the maker's mark appears to be W.M. Wise & Son and marker Sterling 1440 with a Tomahawk emblem. It's 10cm high by 7cm wide and a monogram of R.A.B. and a date 1911.

Made by William Kerr & Co of Newkirk NJ and retailed by (probably) William M. Wise, a jeweler, watchmaker, and fancy goods dealer in Brooklyn NY.
