Sterling Carving Knife Marks: Crown, W?, Lion Pattern:Flower

Postby geteup » Sun Nov 13, 2005 8:41 pm

I've searched all over the web and can't find the pattern name or who makes this set (fork & knife). Marked Sterling HDL the first mark is a crown, then what looks like a W and then a lion with his head facing left and tail up in the air. Thank you in advance.

The photo of the hallmarks is not that clear, but they may be English markings - apart from a lack of a maker's mark (not that surprising given they were obviously exported hence the "Sterling" indicator), they could be Sheffield work, assayed in 1914.

Check out the British section on this very site.

Thanks

Watson Co. of Attleboro, Mass., not sure if this is a full-line pattern, believe I've only seen it on carving sets.

Although it is difficult to ID without seeing the entire handle, I think it is "Meadow Rose".
