Need help ID this maker. 5 forks, 6 t-spoons, 6 T-spoons. All cast with hallmarks shown and stamped WM.FRANTZ & CO. Felt jackets have "Wm.Frantz & Col Inc. Jewelers, New Orleans, L.A." patches. Have been unable to ID hallmarks or learn more about Frantz (except he or namesake immortalized on public school where Ruby Bridges marched to school by federal marshals and painted by Norman Rockwell). This partial set an heirloom from woman born & raised near New Orleans. Many thanks.

Hello Brick-

I believe that Frantz would be the retailer, the maker is Gorham as seen here: http://www.925-1000.com/Gorham_Date_Code.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think the pattern is "Chantilly" (your picture is the back side) but this cool site shows it here: http://www.925-1000.com/patterns_Gorham.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I only wonder what the "T" in the diamond is... maybe someone with a lot more knowledge will be able to tell us?

Best Regards-

Byron

Hello.

Gorham used the T mark to indicate the weight of the flatware.

WOW! You guys are fantastic. Thanks for the f-a-s-t replies. Gorham Chantilly it is. And the "T" weight fits with the modest means of the original owner. I'm a historic preservationist so these mysteries intrigue me, although my usual searches have to do with architecture.
