Meriden Silver mark

Postby cybertiger » Mon May 16, 2005 12:25 am

The mark given for the Meriden Brittania Co. under American Silver makers on this site (www.925-1000.com)...a great site, at that.....is a front view of a bird with an "m" between its wings. Wasn't their (Meriden's) mark "scales"? Can anyone confirm that the mark shown is correct - if not, to what manufacturer does the said "bird" mark belong?

Hi All,

The focus of the 925-1000.com encyclopedia is silver marks & hallmarks, not silverplate marks.
The bird mark is included because it is Meriden's mark on Sterling holloware.
I have not included the scales mark because it is a silverplate mark.
