Info on Kensington, please

Postby johnsonsaga » Mon Apr 21, 2008 12:13 pm

I have just acquired a sterling bowl but can find no information about the maker. The bowl is clearly marked Kensington. The bowl is 11" in diameter and 2-1/2" tall. I have only been able to find references to Kensington silverplate or the Gorham Kensington pattern. Any information about this maker would be appreciated.

Hello.

Not sure about Kensington. However, the bird mark to the left of sterling was used by the Meriden Britannia Company and later the International Silver Company.

Thanks, Pat. Cross-checking Meriden on a popular replacement site confirmed there was a Kensington pattern that was sterling and not silverplate. The design on the fork closely resembles the design on the bowl. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
