NOTE: as a general note to anyone reading this - there is some flexibility among the Ryrie/Ellis/Birks (mostly) flatware and their marks. a lot of the flatware patterns were carried over to the next iteration of the company and you might find a set of - let's say - georgian, or kings, half of which is marked birks and the other ellis, or ryrie(much less likely). well, the ellis flatware would have been carried over from their previous incarnation and sold by birks as their own - which, in a manner of speaking, it had become.
