well i think it's american, it measures 3.5" long, engraved on the bowl is , THIS LITTLE PIG WENT TO MARKET , with a a pig in his cart being pulled by a donkey, with hill and trees and a sign post in the background, very hard to see due the the many theeth marks around the edge, i dont know what the marks are but there is a letter R back to front then STERLING PAT. OCT 9 1894 and with the original box

Hi,
It is a Reed & Barton mark. This type of raised mark was not stamped after the piece was made, but was part of the pattern die that formed the whole spoon. Apparently the diemaker forgot to reverse the "R".
