Roden Brothers Silver Marks Character Identity

Postby hagman » Sun Feb 10, 2008 10:13 pm

This dresser set belonged to my Aunt. Checking through your website helped identify the maker but I cannot find info on the character between the "R" and "STERLING". Any help with this would be great. Thanks for your time and trouble.

Hi Hagman-

Looks like a lion to me not sure what Roden wanted it to look like:

The symbol between the R and sterling represents a lion.
It's just a pseudo mark, has no real meaning on Canadian silver.

Thanks for the info. The character does appear to represent the walking lion.
