Identify Sterling Napkin Ring Maker

Postby streeterstuff » Wed Jan 02, 2008 6:38 pm

I would like to identify the maker of this sterling napkin ring. It measures about 1 3/4 inches in diameter and about 1 3/4 inches wide.
It is marked sterling and is dated Aug 21 1889. It was hard to photograph the mark on the inside of the ring; therefore, I drew what I see in the mark.
The person figure appears to be carrying something. Could this possibly be British?

Well, with that 'Q', I'd highly suspect it to be Gorham's 1884 date mark.

Hi Salmoned & Byron, Thank you for your help. I believe you are correct.
But is it unusual to use a mark that it says was used from 1852 to 1865 and a 1884 date mark? Jeff.

In a word, no.
