Box with small Stancampiano plaque + 3 marks
Box with small Stancampiano plaque + 3 marks
Hello everyone,
New here and do not know a thing about silver.
Fund your forum and thought you would be able to help in explaining what the marks on this little plaque are, and maybe a date?
Unsure if this is supposed to be old or new because of the inscription on the plaque, but the box seems new.
Unsure of the textile, looks like it is made with paper?
It has little buttons on the lid and inside the box that hold it together.
Also, not sure if this is from Italy or the US, since it has the 925 and a PA mark, but the writing is in Italian.
There is also a mark that looks like 81 between the 925 and PA marks.
Very confused to say the least.
Any information would be helpful.
Attached are some photos of the box.
Thank you vert much for your time.
Please excuse the name on the links, I am using my oldest listing to upload the images so they don't interfere with anything else.

Thank you for the information.
I just tried to upload images to the post images.org website, and it keeps saying "Server responded with 0 code".
I click on the album and says I have no photos.
So I have no idea what is going on. They load at 100% and then just says that.

Ok, seems to be working now
Re: Box with small Stancampiano plaque + 3 marks
It is a packaging for an item by the firm Stancampiano of Palermo. In addition to their engraved mark you can see 925/ St /stella 39 PA at the bottom right

Thank you very much for that information.
Do any of the markings tell you when it was made?
I am guessing the "dal 1870" does not refer to when it was made but when the firm was founded?

In the above link you will see that the mark with a star and registration number was used since 1968.

Thank you very much! I just registered yesterday on the site, so do not know how to navigate it yet, and where to look.AG2012 wrote:In the above link you will see that the mark with a star and registration number was used since 1968.
This helps a lot!
Ok 1968 and after makes sense, since the box is pretty much intact.
Re: Box with small Stancampiano plaque + 3 marks
Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
Regarding the earliest date for this style of mark, although the law enacting the change was in 1968, realistically, the use of such punches was not seen until the early 1970's.

Just a small clarification.
The applicative rules, with the drawings of the new punches, was published on August 17, 1971. The manufacture and distribution of those punches began after this date.

:::::: Is the "St" or "Stella" next to the 925 an unusual hallmark? ::::
