Hi all. I am new to this forum and could use some help. I have a really nice piece by Elkington. I have the marks "mostly: identified. But there are few pieces including handed etched numbers I can't find anywhere.

Please let me know if you can help. I have several other pieces to look into as well. I like the research but sometimes I hit a dead end.

What I think I know is that this is 1863. Made in London by Elkington, Mason & Co. I believe it is electroplate.

Agree your piece was made by Elkington, Mason & Company, 1842 - 1864.
Only problem is, the Y date mark is usually in a diamond shape cartouche.
There have been many variations from their date code documented. Seems to be a common ocurrance.

The date mark info I found was in the sort of rectangle. It placed the date in that year.
What I am curious of is hand etched numbers on all the peices and the stamp on the face of the lid.

The numbers are Z23 and 2634. I assume they are just numbered peices but I haven't seen this on anything else.
