Leo. Simmons Law's Patent Johannesburg Silverplated Server

Postby silversearcherz » Thu Jul 19, 2007 3:39 pm

This food server weighs 4.5 pounds and approx. 12 inches long by 10 inches wide. It has a detachable handle that turns and twists off,and is marked Law's Patent on cover and patent under the handle. The cover is stamped with number 2 under the edge and bottom piece of server is marked number 1 on inside edge.Under the server it is marked Leo. Simmons Johannesburg Finest Electro Plate and number 4058.
I am not sure if the manufacturer was Leo. Simmons of Johannesburg or if they were just a retailer of this item as I was told.
What is Law's Patent and is there a company or person connected to this ?
I would think that maybe this was manufactured in England and sold in South Africa if Leo. Simmons is only a retailer.
Any ideas on this very heavy and quality made piece?
Would this also be a chippendale style ?
