Often, when people see a set of British silverplate marks with the initials JG they think of Joseph Gilbert. See his mark here:
http://www.925-1000.com/silverplate003.htmlJoseph Gilbert always included in his set of marks the cross & circle female symbol. Your marks have a triangle & cross mark instead.
So, I don't believe your mark is a Joseph Gilbert mark.
Not positive about this, but that might be a set of marks used by another Birmingham manufacturer.
JOHN Gilbert used the triangle & cross on his early "Old Sheffield Plate" or "fused plate" items.
See here:

John Gilbert later produce electroplated items and continued to use the triangle & circle mark on them.
The company produced mostly flatware.
My books don't have a picture of his electroplate marks, so I can't say for sure this is his mark. This is just a possibility.
