I am a total novice trying to research a Gorham tea service

Postby verygraybear » Sun Aug 14, 2005 2:39 pm

I am attaching a photo of 4 pieces of the set and a photo of part of the marks on the bottom of the pieces. In addition to those marks the following marks are on the creamer. Each piece has a slightly differing set:
Y1034
5/8 Pint
SILVER SOLDERED
a 3 pronged mark with a arrow head on each prong like --->
There are a coffee pot, tea pot, creamer, sugar bowl with lid and what I believe is a refuse bowl which is not in the photograph. The side of each piece is floridly engraved with 3 initials which I believe are PWD. I hope I have the photos attached correctly and appreciate any help you might be able to give.

The Gorham anchor by itself is a silver plated mark. As is the EPNS which means electro plate on nickel silver and the term "silver soldered."
I didn't see the "3 pronged mark with a arrow head on each prong" but sounds like it could be the Gorham year mark for 1897.
