Intresting Candy Dish - Help with ID

Postby IggyPup » Mon Apr 02, 2007 11:08 am

I picked this up recently. The handle is wood, SO thinks I'm crazy fgor buying more silver, but and I just thought it was too intresting to pass up.
I never saw this mark before, and there a tiny bit of plating missing on the bottom that looks like it's copper underneath.
Anything you can tell me would be appriciated.
It is 7 1/2 inches across, and without the lid a couple inches tall. The shape makes me think 50's, but the wood handle and claw foot seems to indicate it's older.
I have no idea where I'm going to put it. I'll probably stash it away for the holidays. It's be a nice conversation peice if I knew more about it. LOL

The mark on your piece was used by the Crescent Silverware Manufacturing Company, Port Jervis, New York. They produced silverplated holloware.
Founded in 1922 in New York City. Moved to Port Jervis in 1939. Acquired the Knickerbocker Silver Company in 1962.
Sold to Samuel Kirk & Son in 1977.

I knew I'd seen that shape before! LOL
I polished it up and wrapped it for saf keeping.
I bet it will make quite a conversation piece when we have company.
