third try on Eales

This is the third try to post this question, first 2 with pics never showed up in the other plated forum, even tho I got message saying it had both times
Was there more than one maker named EALES or did they just move around a lot? Have an engraved(?) /decorated piece which the pattern shows on the bottm in reverse (raised) of the top, that is stamped EALES, under that is what looks like -1771 , or -X771, beneath that in a curved application is what looks like SH A U or V F 001 with a line and dot over the 00. and a triangle with a line next to the apex. I hope this isn't prohibbited, I set up a webpage to display the pics at

I believe the number was 1779. The bottom word was probably Sheffield.

Thanks for the assist Pat. Made a typo in my original message, it should have been "a U" NOT "A U". Total number of charaters on the bottom line is 8 not the nine letters in Sheffield. IF I ever figure out what I am doing wrong I'll post a pic of it.
