Hey board, checking in on this one.
Haven’t been able to come up with anything using my usual searches. I went over this lidded pitcher all over with a loupe and the only mark I spotted was this “U4” mark in two spots: the bottom [shown], and on the hinge. Looking for any info / thoughts on it, maker, origin, age etc.
It’s so well made & sturdy I’m surprised there is no other mark. It’s got the bird finial [pheasant?] and two dogs in high-relief on the sides, also with birds with longer beaks. In low relief on either side of the dogs there are two guns, and under that, two fighting boars.
Weighs in at 4.7lbs / 2.3kg.
Cheers, Michael
